FDC aim to provide a healthy, modern and efficient workplace for staff.
The Sydney office has been recently upgraded, designed around principles of transparency, egalitarianism and teamwork. The public / guest spaces flow directly the entry foyer and provide multiple meeting spaces with technology support. An open plan breakout area is an adjacent facility for staff and visitors to use, with food preparation and audio visual equipment on hand.
Our workspace has been transformed into linear, team-based cells, with communal storage bays and touch-down meeting points. The historic building blended with modern influences produces a leading edge ambience. Modern toilets, shower, on site parking, neighbouring park, close shops and proximity to the city all provide a convenient hub to work from. The company operates a fully automatic coffee machine, provides free fruit throughout the week, has monthly birthday cake days and holds ocassional BBQ breakfast and freshly blended juice mornings.
The FDC Work-Life-Balance team (our internal club) meets regularly to to discuss ways to work smarter, improve amenities and promote activities for staff and family. The WLB team changes periodically to keep it a fresh and shared focus group. We hold a family-focused Christmas party every second year where we create a fun-filled carnival atmosphere for our kids to be entertained before Santa rides in upon an FDC ute. Other years, staff and spouses generally enjoy a dinner out to mark the end of the year. During the year, we aim to hold a few social events such as barefoot bowling or a movie night to bring our site and office crews together. We encourage the (safe and responsible) consumption of a friendly beverage at the end of the working week in the FDC Breakout area.
Not forgetting our interstate colleagues, Melbourne is soon to relocate into new offices in Docklands. The facility will bring together our Victorian team that previously worked rather vertically in a tri-level apartment / office. The new open plan workspace will combine guest spaces, meeting zones and workstations, along with utility and storage zones. We look forward to lauching the new Melbourne office in September 2010.
The Brisbane team work from a lovely Queenslander in the city fringe suburb of Fortitude Valley. The casual atmosphere is envied by those in the southern offices, offering a quiet yet dynamic workplace.
