Project Description

The Octagon building is an architectural feature of the Parramatta CBD.

The building recently underwent an upgrade, with FDC selected to deliver a host of changes and improvements.

A major mechanical overhaul was delivered, with all new VAV’s and BMS controls reducing electrical consumption by 30%. Rooftop cooling towers were also upgraded, with helicopters used for logistics due to difficult access.

Lighting was significantly altered throughout all lift lobbies and public spaces. LED fittings were introduced to reduce power usage, reduce maintenance and simplify difficult access points.

Other general repair and refurbishment works were carried out to glass facades, framing, courtyard, waterproofing, landscaping, paving and access points.

Given that the building was 90% occupied (by office and retail tenants), potentially disruptive work was carefully scheduled for out-of-hours and all other works sensitively programmed for minimum inconvenience. Tenant and visitor access was guaranteed with safety and signage a priority.
