Lead bid performance across a strong and sustained pipeline

We are seeking a senior strategic marketing leader to assist in shaping how our business positions itself in the market and converts opportunity into work. This role is responsible for the strategic narrative across major pursuits and bids, ensuring our value proposition, differentiation and client messaging are compelling, consistent and commercially sharp.

This is a leadership position for someone who excels in strategic positioning, storytelling and influence, with bids and pursuits as the primary application of those skills.

 

About the role

As Head of Strategic Marketing & Pursuits, you will sit at the intersection of strategy, marketing and growth. You will partner closely with executive leadership, operational leaders, Business Development Managers (BDMs) and marketing to shape how FDC goes to market on its most significant opportunities.

You will work alongside the relationship holders across the business — supporting, challenging and elevating how opportunities are positioned, pursued and converted — while remaining focused on strategy, not account ownership.

You will own the strategic direction and quality of major pursuits, guiding teams to articulate why FDC, not just what FDC does.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic positioning and narrative development for major pursuits, bids and client opportunities
  • Shape value propositions, win themes and messaging that differentiate FDC in competitive markets
  • Partner with relationship holders (including BDMs) to support pursuit strategy, client approach and prioritisation
  • Elevate the quality and consistency of how FDC presents itself across complex submissions
  • Lead, mentor and uplift pursuit and bid capability across the business (without operating as a bid factory)
  • Collaborate with the broader marketing team to ensure alignment between brand, positioning and pursuits
  • Continuously refine how success is defined — focusing on quality of wins, not just volume

 

About you

You are a senior strategic marketer or growth leader who:

  • Thinks commercially and strategically about markets, clients and positioning
  • Is exceptional at turning complexity into clear, compelling narratives
  • Are comfortable influencing senior stakeholders, relationship leaders and executives
  • Has experience contributing to or leading high-value, complex pursuits (construction, property, infrastructure, professional services or similar)
  • Understands that bids are a strategic exercise — not a production process
  • Values quality, discipline and impact over noise and volume

 

You may come from:

  • Professional services pursuits
  • Growth or market strategy
  • Complex B2B or project-based environments

 

Direct construction experience is helpful, but not essential.
