A world class facility where technology meets functionality, the Macquarie University Hospital Orthopaedic Specialist Surgical Centre (OSSC) leads the way for Operating Theatre builds.
Works included state of the art digitally integrated orthopaedics operating theatres complete with toughened glass walls (a first in New South Wales), sterile rooms, 8 bed recovery 1 and 8 chair recovery 2 zones, 29 bed in-patient ward, 2 staff stations, administration support areas and construction of 2x new materials hoists for dirty and sterile equipment transfer between L5 theatres and the hospital’s Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD).
Working within a live environment required careful and extensive communication with hospital staff, facilities management and building security to ensure minimal disruption to hospital operations.
The design was tailored to suit the innovating alternate model of care designed to increase operating efficiency and minimising in patient recovery to maximise procedure volume.
