Level 2, 3 Technology Place, Macquarie University, NSW
Located in the heart of Sydney’s North-West, FDC completed the expansion and upgrade to Macquarie University Hospital Central Sterilisation Services Department (CSSD).
Working within a live hospital environment, the CSSD was expanded and upgraded to comply with the Australasian Health Facility Guidelines (AHFG).
The footprint of the department was expanded out onto an existing roof space area where new sterilisation and washer disinfectors were installed, and a new linen transport lift system was cut into the slab and commissioned to service the new footprint and transport materials between Ground Floor and Level 2 where the CSSD is located. The expanded footprint was then tied into the existing space via cladding and structural supporting upgrades.
The new CSSD reflects cutting edge hospital sterilization and sanitation and provides the highest form of cleanliness which is a testament to the design and build team that allowed the space to be created whilst not impacting major hospital operations and surrounding mission critical areas such as ICU floor below and CSSD directly next to the site. The new space services not only Macquarie but several other hospitals that now utilise this sterilising service.
