Levels 7-9, Engineering and Technology Precinct (J03 Building), The University of Sydney, Maze Crescent, Darlington, NSW
FDC have successfully delivered three levels of research lab facilities for USYD under a managing contractor agreement.
The labs span 2,700sqm over three floors and were designed with consideration to both general and specific research requirements of the research undertaken by the end users in areas such as Biomolecular & Cellular, Food and Water Resources & Environment. The project increases the Faculty of Engineering’s research laboratory facilities by approximately 2,500sqm, and provides Physical Containment Level 2 (PC2) enabled facilities.
The build was undertaken in an operational facility and required close management of contractor access and egress whilst ensuring any services disruptions did not adversely impact the operational teaching labs on levels 2 & 4 or the operational research lab on level 6.
FDC’s role as managing contractor required the team to assist in developing the design concepts to coordinate construction documents through to construction delivery, commissioning and handover.
