FDC, the most awarded NSW builder in 2023, continues its legacy in delivering best-in-class construction and building services, with the passing of the leadership baton to the next generation. FDC has appointed Russell Grady to the role of Managing Director (MD) and Group Director, as Ben moves into the role of FDC’s Non-Executive Chairman.

Ben’s transition is the realisation of a succession plan years in the making allowing him to focus on overseeing the direction of the group and its future growth. An industry stalwart, Ben has led FDC through turbulent economic conditions and navigated industry challenges while maintaining the enviable track record of a solid balance sheet as well as mentoring and retaining strong talent in a market consistently faced with skills shortages.

“From humble beginnings with a team of 12 in 1990, the business now has more than 600 staff, operates in 6 states and territories across Australia and exceeds $1.5bn in revenues. I am incredibly proud of the FDC team; together we have built a culture, balance sheet and reputation that is market leading,” says FDC Chairman Ben Cottle.

“Incoming MD, Russell Grady is a testament to our commitment in developing and investing in our future leaders. He has journeyed with us for over two decades and is integral to FDC’s success. I am confident in his ability to continue to build on our legacy and expand our vision to creating the best team positioned to deliver outstanding results for our partners and clients,” says Ben.

“We have been actively working on succession planning for FDC and have absolute confidence in the capabilities of Russell and our wider Executive Leadership Group to continue our unwavering growth, personal culture and strong reputation for quality in the industry,” says FDC Group Director Blake Cottle.

Russell joined FDC as a cadet 21 years ago while completing a Bachelor of Building Construction Management. Throughout his career, he has held various roles across the FDC Group including Chief Estimator, Contract and Commercial Manager and General Manager of the NSW Fitout & Refurbishment division providing Russell with extensive, hands-on knowledge across our construction, fitout and refurbishment teams and businesses.

“It is a privilege to be appointed to the role of MD. FDC is at an exciting stage in its evolution, with strong foundations and a unique set of capabilities.
