Status

A complex and innovative project, the design and construction of Central Queensland University’s new School of Mining Rockhampton North campus.
The project has allowed for the consolidation of the existing Vocational Education & Training (VET) trades and Engineering precinct at CQUniversity, introducing innovative technologies and course offerings based on emerging occupations and skills related to mining industry automation.

The space is fitted with state-of-the-art facilities, including a gantry crane, welding and oxy cutting bays, classrooms, labs, office spaces, breakout spaces, and amenities over three floors.

Extensive landscaping works were conducted, as well as the replacement and upgrade of fire pumps, chiller units and fire booster cabinets. A High Voltage cabling upgrade and a new transformer for the campus were also introduced.

The new facility will provide enormous future benefit to the local community as mining supports thousands of jobs in the region.

CQUniversity’s brand new School of Mining will deliver facilities, resources, and technology to support the education and training of the manufacturing workforces of tomorrow.
