Guide Dogs NSW’s new Parramatta workspace and assessment facility was recently delivered by FDC’s small works division, FDCnow. The fitout provides Guide Dogs NSW with a corporate office as well as a testing/assessment facility that assists people with low vision or blindness.

The suites at 99 Phillip Street, Parramatta include standard features such as open area work spaces, meeting rooms with video conferencing capabilities, breakout areas, a reception, and waiting areas.

Many unique elements feature throughout. The client area is one such space and includes a state-of-the-art assistive technology bench to help their client’s master real-world tasks. There is also a sensory pathway that incorporates touch and feel walls, while dimmable lighting creates a dark space that mimics the experience of having low vision or blindness. Another interesting feature is flooring that assists the vision impaired by providing contrasting colour and contact sounds when using a cane, creating pathways through the premises.

FDC are proud to have delivered this specialised workspace which will allow Guide Dogs to continue their life-changing work within the community.

Project features:

  • Curved timber slat walls
  • Sensory walk-through area with touch/feel wall panels and dimmable feature lighting
  • Workstations and meeting rooms
  • Examination rooms
  • Reception and waiting area
  • Flooring that reacts to canes with contrasting colour and contact sounds
  • Auditorium room with video conferencing capability with hearing loops
  • Paywave donation box on the façade of the premise.

Delivered with The Studio Collaborative and CR Commercial Property Group.
