Transforming a ground-floor office space at the heritage-listed National Film & Sound Archive (NFSA) in Acton, ACT, the refurbishment adds new perspective to the beloved Canberra icon while celebrating its heritage details and character.

The new space – dubbed the Kookaburra Room – has been transformed into a welcoming and vibrant hub for visitors to explore the collection, and for public meetings, functions and events at the NFSA.

Designed by Australian designer Mel Page in close collaboration with the NFSA’s in-house teams, the custom furnishings, intricate floor coverings and premium finishes elevate the space, with the kookaburra taking centre stage as a playful design feature.

This revitalisation marks another successful chapter in FDC’s commitment to delivering functional, innovative spaces within heritage environments.
